‘Denise Richards’ Returns to E!
Second season will begin filming next year
Call off the wake for Denise Richards’ show on E! — it’s coming back after all.
The celebrity-focused cable channel has picked up a second season of “Denise Richards,” despite rumblings that there wouldn’t be a second season of the show. Instead, the series will return in 2009, with new episodes set to begin filming early in the year.
Not returning: The second half of the show’s title, “It’s Complicated.” E! has decided to go with just “Denise Richards” for the second season.
“When Denise let viewers into her home last season, they got to know the real Denise and judge for themselves,” says Lisa Berger, head of original programming at the network. “We all know that Denise is full of surprises and, from what we are already hearing, there is much more to come.”
The second season will continue to chronicle Richards’ life as she balances work and single motherhood. E! says the new season will also chronicle the former Bond girl and ex-wife of Charlie Sheen as she reconnects with old friends and considers moving.
“Denise Richards” drew a little over a million viewers a week in initial airings last season, a decent number for the network. It also did fairly well among the E! target demographic of young women. Ryan Seacrest and Richards are executive producers of the show.
